Currently doing some experimental fabric re-creating. I am always doing something like this - probably due to my art background and constant need to make something else out of something I already have! It's borderline ridiculous - but I am not seeming to outgrow this! I've done it all my life.
In Threads magazine I noticed the section on ways to manipulate fabric - like pushing it through a grill/cake cooling rack, and sewing old silk ties cut apart into other fabrics, etc. Since I have always loved quilting but no longer do it - and also love the Marcy Tilton patterns for creative jackets - this seemed like one more way to be creative with the jackets.
I've begun the grill experiment and have been piecing together some fabric. Pictures are coming tomorrow morning I am hoping!
Welcome to my newest blog!
Addendum: I guess everyone can see that I never uploaded a picture of this process. This is because after I sewed together one piece in this fashion I realized that the last thing I need to wear is something 3D - considering I need to lose a few pounds! I tossed the experiment - even though it was fun to work out. It's a great experiment and I think a purse would really look great sewn in the relief style fashion.
