I've been thrifting, searching for the past few months and today was a big day for me - found all kinds of great items of clothing to alter, wear as is, tear up and remake, etc. Here are a few from my haul.

Here is a beautiful, uniquely patterned cotton sateen jacket, fully lined that fits me great!

LILLY PULITZER - Yep, you heard right! But.....it's a size 4. I bought it for 4.00! I think my friend, Peyton still wears a 4 - looks like last year's premier design - can you beleive it??
This beautiful, soft cotton brocade fully lined jacket is very large - size 3 Chico's. I'll alter it and add some trim probably to fit me. Shown with the black velvet skirt, of course.

This is NWT Ann Taylor and just beautiful. Chiffon with embroidery. I am trying to make a Nataya style dress with over jacket in this very same style. This one will fit my daughter, Melissa I think. Adding the rest of the dress to it should be interesting.
More to come a little later~

I am so happy to be back to this site! I have been sewing a lot and most of it is altered garment sewing. Yes, Altered Couture magazine and Belle Armoire, as well as Threads magazine have been my inspirations. For the past 6 months I have been collecting garments from thrift stores and antique dealers as well as going through my closet finding things to alter and be creative with.

Today I made a really great haul at our local stores. I must brag by showing what I found. Some of these clothes still have tags on them! Some are to cut up but most of them fit me or my daughters and can be used as is! This is not considered sewing is it?? I will start by showing this beautiful White House, Black Market shirt (NWT) and Nicole Miller black velvet skirt. I may be taking the velvet skirt apart or adding some trim to the bottom. It is a little snug also! (not attributed to Thanksgiving turkey meal only).
