I've been thrifting, searching for the past few months and today was a big day for me - found all kinds of great items of clothing to alter, wear as is, tear up and remake, etc. Here are a few from my haul.

Here is a beautiful, uniquely patterned cotton sateen jacket, fully lined that fits me great!

LILLY PULITZER - Yep, you heard right! But.....it's a size 4. I bought it for 4.00! I think my friend, Peyton still wears a 4 - looks like last year's premier design - can you beleive it??
This beautiful, soft cotton brocade fully lined jacket is very large - size 3 Chico's. I'll alter it and add some trim probably to fit me. Shown with the black velvet skirt, of course.

This is NWT Ann Taylor and just beautiful. Chiffon with embroidery. I am trying to make a Nataya style dress with over jacket in this very same style. This one will fit my daughter, Melissa I think. Adding the rest of the dress to it should be interesting.
More to come a little later~

I am so happy to be back to this site! I have been sewing a lot and most of it is altered garment sewing. Yes, Altered Couture magazine and Belle Armoire, as well as Threads magazine have been my inspirations. For the past 6 months I have been collecting garments from thrift stores and antique dealers as well as going through my closet finding things to alter and be creative with.

Today I made a really great haul at our local stores. I must brag by showing what I found. Some of these clothes still have tags on them! Some are to cut up but most of them fit me or my daughters and can be used as is! This is not considered sewing is it?? I will start by showing this beautiful White House, Black Market shirt (NWT) and Nicole Miller black velvet skirt. I may be taking the velvet skirt apart or adding some trim to the bottom. It is a little snug also! (not attributed to Thanksgiving turkey meal only).

August Sewing News

Lots and Lots of sewing going on here! Unfortunately - no uploading of pics is possible until I find a new upload tool that fits my larger sized digital memory card! I've been sewing for months making tops, jackets and pants for myself. Also, I've been designing and making kids clothes and baby clothes for friends' kids. I really hope I can get the pics uploaded soon.

Thanks to all the people who post advice and pattern review at patternreview.com. I could not do without that site and hope to contribute some reviews of patterns myself soon. I have to do a lot of cutting and pasting to make full bust adjustments as well as petite and sway back adjustments. The big 4 really do work the same don't they?

Thanks for visiting the site and come back often for updates!

Love this style shirt - can wear it open or buttoned up. Also love this hand- dyed fabric.
